Camels, they’re pretty freaky creatures aren’t they? Look at those eyes!

  1. The word ‘camel’ comes from an Arabic word: ǧml – it means beauty!
  2. Camels’ humps are not used to store water. They store fat.
  3. Camels have the ability to store up to 80 pounds of fat in their humps at one time.
  4. There are more than 14 million camels in the world.
  5. Camels can reach 7 feet in height (at the hump) and weigh up to 1500 pounds.
  6. Camels can run 40 miles per hour.
  7. Camels live 40-50 years.
  8. Camel toes spread wide, to prevent them from sinking into sand.
  9. Camels three sets of eyelids with two rows of eyelashes.
  10. Camels can close their nostrils to prevent sand from getting up there!
  11. A camel can drink up to 40 gallons of water at one time.
  12. A camels pee is thick like syrup.
  13. Camels gestate for around 14 months.
  14. Camels milk is lower in fat than cows milk.
  15. The noises produced by a camel were used as the voice of Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies.
