Photography Is Medicinal

Angles, Rules, Etc:

Each week, I will post a photograph as part of a challenge from the Daily Post – you are invited to participate. This week, the challenge is entitled, Reflecting!

Please show me your interpretation of the subject by adding a comment, with a link to your Website post, Facebook photo, Flickr image, etc.

Share a photo that captures something reflected back to you in a way that made you look at your surroundings differently.

It is now eight months since I launched this website, and this weeks photo challenge is an ideal opportunity for some reflection upon what I have achieved so far.

As a result of immersing myself into a weekly challenge, I do believe my photography is beginning to improve, along with a growing ability to criticise myself. I feel that self critique is important so as to allow further improvement.

I’ve always been an advocate of doing something over and over until it becomes second nature. Learning about angles, light, rules, processing, and a plethora of other information is beginning to knit together nicely in my noggin, although more is probably lost from my leaky sieve, than taken in!

I know I’m nowhere near where I want to be, and realise this could take a lifetime of learning – but I don’t care. This is a hobby, and more importantly for me, it is great fun.

Pursuing photography as a hobby has pushed me to get out and see new places in the local area. Its also had a number of health benefits too.

Since September 2016, I’ve dropped a stone (14lbs) in weight, my fitness is much improved and the effect upon my asthma has been noticeable. Plus, I’m less stressed.

My photography is a hobby, but it is also medicinal in nature.
