An appeal launched by Whitehaven Rugby League, on Wednesday evening has reached a staggering £25,000 since launch.
Interest has been high since the club announced that a budget shortfall had seen the club looking at an uncertain future.
A fans meeting was arranged for Thursday Night and was well attended by fans of not just the club but Rugby League in the area. A positive and frank meeting was had with Stuart Harvey, Mark Stamper and Gary Eilbeck taking questions from the gathered crowd.
As of 2.30pm this afternoon (Friday 8th June) the club have raised £25,525 after donations from 88 people.
A spokesperson for the club said, “We would like to thank all who have donated so far and their generosity as this tough time for all connected with the club will always be remembered.
“For all those who still wish to donate they can do by contacting the club on 01946 328088 or by drop into the club’s offices.
“We are waiting for a just giving page to be approved then we can also take donations via the website.”
